Sparkling Fruit Salad

Italians are crazy for watermelon but they don't eat it ice cold. Mixed with honeydew and cantaloupe, it makes a refreshing summer dessert. Use a melon baller to remove the flesh of the fruit. Insert it into the fruit and twist to make a ball. Just before serving, add a splash of sparkling wine like Asti Spumante or use a good champagne.

Serves 8


2 cups honeydew melon balls
2 cups cantaloupe melon balls
2 cups watermelon balls
4 tablespoons warm honey
Asti Spumante


Toss all the fruits together in a large bowl with the honey. Divide and fill 8 goblets or wine glasses with the fruit mixture. Just before serving, pour Asti Spumante, a sparkling dessert wine,into each glass or goblet. Serve immediately.
