Figs and Raisin Sauce for Pasta and Codfish


  • 4 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup prunes or figs, diced
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 onion,minced
  • 1 stalk celery, minced
  • 8 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste


  1. Chop the onion and celery.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet and add the chopped vegetables.
  3. After a few seconds, add the tomato sauce and cook a few minutes; stir in the figs and raisins and heat well.
  4. Usually served over cod fish with spaghetti
