Seeds, Anyone?

January 1, 2010

The seed catalogs are rolling in and we can hardly wait to get started on the design for this year’s vegetable garden. We have certainly gone green with all organic vegetables and a composter to help us return to the earth the nutrients that our plants will need.

During the winter months, we frequent the local farmers markets and believe it or not, you can find locally grown vegetables even in the dead of winter. We pick up radishes, carrots, beets, parsnips, and Chinese cabbage. It is such a treat to be able to get these local foods and do our part for sustainability, eating locally and thinking globally. And for your winter reading pleasure, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingslover will change how you think about food and where it comes from.
