Super Bowl Super Sandwich

February 8, 2023

It goes by various names like pitta, muffuletta or stuffed Italian sub but what it really is, is a hefty, super chocked full of cured meats, cheese and marinated raw vegetable sandwich all squeezed and compacted together and encased in a marinated salad lined country bread. Sound complicated? Easy to make and it is the perfect food for Super Bowl Sunday. And the best part is that it serves a lot of fans and is best made the day before or early in the day before the big game starts.

The origins of this sandwich comes to us by way of Italy, especially from the regions of Calabria and Sicily and looks a lot different than the Americanized version that it has morphed into but nevertheless, delicious and so much better than a hot dog or wings!
